Ever since the movie was announced, James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ is easily one of the most discussed upcoming superhero flicks. Directed by James Gunn, it stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

This film is expected to restart Superman’s story after the struggles of the previous DCEU and launch the new DC Universe in a big way.

The film, originally called ‘Superman: Legacy,’ explores Superman’s struggle to balance his Kryptonian roots with his upbringing as Clark Kent in Smallville, all while embracing traditional values in a modern world. Gunn confirmed several times the movie won’t be an origin story.

The first teaser trailer for the movie has finally been released and you can check it out below:

Several major locations have been teased, and the first look at Superman’s powers is truly phenomenal. It seems that Gunn has been aiming for the classic Superman portrayal, opting to go in a completely different direction than the previous DCEU’s darker take on the Man of Steel.

Corenswet described the story as a mix of ‘For All Seasons’ and ‘All-Star Superman’ but of course, with Gunn’s personal touch.

The cast of ‘Superman’ includes Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt, also known as Mister Terrific, a superhero and inventor, and Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, a superhero who can change his body’s elements.

Nathan Fillion plays Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, a tough peacekeeper in the Green Lantern Corps, while Isabela Merced stars as Hawkgirl, a hero with wings and melee weapons. Other notable cast members include Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and Alan Tudyk, and others.

‘Superman’ is set to release in theaters internationally on July 9, 2025, and in the United States on July 11, 2025, in IMAX. It will be the first movie in the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
