The rumors that ‘Thor 5’ is in development started nearly a year ago, right around the time when Taika Waititi confirmed he won’t be returning to direct it. Since then not much is known about the movie’s development except that the studio has secured Chris Hemsworth for the lead role once again.
Yesterday, reports dropped that Marvel is apparently working on ‘World War Hulks’ movie (not a typo, the movie is supposed to feature several Hulks, a story that will apparently be teased in ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’
So what does George Miller have to do with any of it?
World of Reel recently reported that Kevin Feige has reached out to several directors for ‘World War Hulk,’ and one of them is George Miller, known most recently for ‘Furiosa.’ Interestingly, Miller is also interested in directing ‘Thor 5,’ thanks to his ‘Furiosa’ star Chris Hemsworth, who introduced him to Feige.
It’s not surprising that Miller is curious about joining the Marvel universe. He once worked on a DC movie, ‘Justice League: Mortal,’ but it was canceled right before production started.
Miller’s own words give credibility to this rumor. Soon following the release of ‘Furiosa’ the director expressed interest in working with Hemsworth again, even on a project like ‘Thor 5.’ Miller described Chris as a talented actor with a wide range of skills—physical, emotional, and intellectual—and highlighted the great chemistry between Chris and co-star Anya Taylor-Joy during filming.
I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills. I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically. But, you also gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really. So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya and Chris matched each other. Particularly towards the end of the month.
