Claws and Shadows: Marvel Reveals ‘Wolverine and Kitty Pryde’ #1 Out this April!
Marvel Comics has announced an exciting new series, Wolverine and Kitty Pryde #1, launching this April. The legendary writer Chris Claremont is making his return to explore a story set between the events of the original Kitty Pryde and Wolverine mini-series and the characters’ reunion with the X-Men. The series will run for five issues and feature artwork by Damian Couceiro, with the first issue hitting shelves on April 30th.
Claremont stated his enthusiasm, saying, “It’s really great returning to this arc, especially since it’s being presented by a wonderful artist, Damian Couceiro! It’s the story of what happens between the end of the original Kitty Pryde and Wolverine mini-series and Logan and Pryde’s return home to rejoin the X-Men. Five issues, more than a single story, complete with surprises galore!
This mini-series promises to explore untold moments in Wolverine and Kitty Pryde’s journey, offering fans a deeper look at their bond and adventures.
When Kitty Pryde nearly lost her soul to Ogun during her journey to Japan, Logan was there to keep the youngest X-Man on the path to good. But as a mysterious force threatens their lives while staying with Mariko Yashida, it’s going to take all of their combined mutant, ninja and fighting skills to protect those they love! An all-new adventure that at last tells the full story of the duo’s journey in Japan before returning to the X-Men and the heartbreak, trials and tribulations that made the characters who they are today.
Editor Mark Basso highlighted the significance of the original Kitty Pryde and Wolverine miniseries, which marked Kitty’s growth from a junior X-Man into a full-fledged hero. However, he noted an unexplored gap between the end of that story and the pair’s return to New York in Uncanny X-Men #192.
Basso shared his excitement about Chris Claremont filling in those blanks, revealing what happened during that time. Questions like why Kitty was in a different mindset upon their return and what happened to her father will finally be addressed in this new mini-series.
