FBI Meets CIA: Dick Wolf’s Next Thrilling Spin-Off Coming to CBS
Dick Wolf is a legendary TV producer best known for creating the Law & Order franchise and the One Chicago series (‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago P.D.,’ and ‘Chicago Med’). His shows are praised for their procedural storytelling, compelling characters, and ability to stay relevant for decades. With multiple hit series across networks, Wolf has shaped modern crime and drama television, leaving a lasting legacy in the industry.
And now he is moving on to a different project according to Deadline. Dick Wolf is currently working on ‘FBI: CIA,’ a spin-off from his hit show ‘FBI.’ The new series will follow an FBI agent and a CIA agent teaming up to fight domestic terrorism. It will be introduced in an upcoming episode of ‘FBI’ and is targeting a potential series order for the 2025-2026 season.
In the upcoming planted episode of ‘FBI,’ three characters, including the FBI and CIA agents, will be introduced, with plans to make them series regulars if the show moves forward. Casting for these roles is currently underway.
‘FBI: CIA’ will be executive produced by Dick Wolf, David Hudgins, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, and Peter Jankowski, and like the other ‘FBI ‘shows, it will be produced by Universal Television and CBS Studios. Set in New York, the show will be part of the same universe as ‘FBI’ and ‘FBI: Most Wanted,’ opening the door for crossovers.
It’s unclear how a potential ‘FBI: CIA’ series would affect ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ and ‘FBI: International,’ especially since the latter is set in Europe. CBS renewed ‘FBI’ for three seasons through 2026-27, while ‘Most Wanted’ and ‘International’ were only given one-season pickups, which are up for renewal in May.
With CBS focusing on franchises, it’s uncertain if the network can fit four ‘FBI’ shows in the same primetime slot, and one may need to air on a different night if all are picked up.
