Loki Brings Chaos to the Ultimate Universe as War for Asgard Heats Up
Marvel’s Ultimate Universe is charging ahead, and it looks like Loki is stepping into the spotlight. As part of Year 2, familiar heroes and villains have been making their way into this revamped world, with Loki set to return as a major player in April.
Thor’s unpredictable brother has shifted between hero and villain over the years, but this time, he’s leaning fully into his darker side as the battle for Asgard begins.
The story unfolds in Ultimates #11, written by Deniz Camp with art by Juan Frigeri. The cover by Dike Ruan shows Loki towering over Thor and Lady Sif, looking every bit the sinister trickster we expect. The description promises high stakes: Thor, Sif, and She-Hulk are leading a mission to take Loki off his throne in Asgard. Along the way, they’ll discover an unexpected ally.
It sounds like Loki may be working under The Maker, the villainous Reed Richards who’s carved up the world and given power to his council. Whether Loki’s rule over Asgard was a gift from The Maker or something he took for himself, Thor and his crew seem determined to stop him.
There’s also a hint that a new hero will be introduced in this issue, adding more intrigue to the mix.
The Ultimates team has been growing steadily. Wasp, Giant-Man, America Chavez, and a new Hawkeye are already part of the squad, with Luke Cage and Namor set to appear soon. Outside this team, we’ve also met the Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy.
It’s clear Marvel isn’t slowing down with this bold new direction, and there’s a lot to keep an eye on as the Ultimate Universe continues to expand. Ultimates #11 hits shelves April 9.
