Marvel is celebrating a decade of Lunella Lafayette with Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur 10th Anniversary Special #1, a special one-shot arriving this April. Brandon Montclare and Natacha Bustos, two of the co-creators behind Moon Girl, are teaming up once again to deliver a story filled with the superhero action and heart that made Lunella and Devil Dinosaur such a hit.
This anniversary issue also introduces something new and exciting. Justina Ireland and Luca Claretti will debut Devil Girl and Moon Dino, a mysterious duo from the distant future. Their appearance marks an important moment in Lunella’s legacy and adds a fresh twist to the series.
It’s a big birthday party for Moon Girl, and the entire Marvel Universe is invited. But Lunella has her own secret plans for the celebration. Things take an unexpected turn when Impossible Man shows up, and it’s up to Lunella to rally her guests like only the smartest person in the Marvel Universe can. And who exactly are Devil Girl and Moon Dino? Readers will have to dive in to find out.
Montclare reflected on the journey of creating Moon Girl, saying, “It feels like just yesterday when we introduced Marvel’s new super genius. Now, 10 years later, we’re throwing the biggest party to celebrate Lunella’s journey.”
For Bustos, returning to this series is a special moment. “It feels like coming home,” she shared. “It’s amazing to see how this character has connected with people over the years, including readers who grew up with the series.”
Editor Mark Paniccia added to the excitement, promising, “Brandon and Natacha are delivering one of the best birthday stories Marvel has ever seen. Plus, Devil Girl and her laser-eyed, flying blue dinosaur are going to blow readers away!”
The special edition will feature a main cover by Nick Bradshaw, with variant covers by Bustos and Anand Racheron. One of Racheron’s variants is a tribute to Bustos’ original Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2015) #1 cover and offers a first glimpse at Devil Girl and Moon Dino.
