New Look: David Howard Thornton Transforms into Screamboat Willie!

‘Screamboat’ is an upcoming American horror movie directed by Steven LaMorte. It reimagines the classic 1928 Disney short ‘Steamboat Willie’ as a slasher film.

The story follows a group of New Yorkers who are attacked by a monstrous rat during a late-night ferry ride. The film stars Tyler Posey and Kailey Hyman, with David Howard Thornton playing Steamboat Willie.

Since the ‘Steamboat Willie’ version of Mickey Mouse entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, the movie was announced the very next day. ‘Screamboat’ is set to release in theaters worldwide in April 2025.

The movie stars Tyler Posey, Kailey Hyman, and others. After ‘Steamboat Willie’ entered the public domain, director Steven LaMorte began developing a horror film based on it. The project was first teased without a title, and in April 2024, the name ‘Screamboat’ was officially revealed. The creature costume for Thornton’s character was created by Quantum Creation FX.

The cast was partially revealed on June 10, with Thornton as the main villain. In November 2024, Tyler Posey and Kailey Hyman were confirmed for major roles, and comedians Brian Quinn and Joe DeRosa were announced for cameo appearances.
