Nate Moore Teases that Anthony Mackie’s Captain America Will Take the Lead in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’!
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming MCU releases. It was voted the #1 most-awaited movie by Fandango audiences—and for good reason. The film will mark Sam Wilson’s first time leading a ‘Captain America’ movie and will introduce major villains like Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader and Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk.
While much of the plot remains a mystery, we do know that Thunderbolt Ross will ask Sam to reunite the Avengers, forcing him to take on major threats along the way.
Every superhero team needs a leader, and according to producer Nate Moore, Sam Wilson is ready to step into that role. Moore hints that there’s still plenty to explore with Captain America, suggesting that even bigger challenges await Sam in the future.
I think there’s never been an Avengers movie where there’s not a Captain America at the center of it, so this is about Sam Wilson showing the world that he is deserving of the mantle and why he’s both Captain America but not Steve Rogers.
This is not the first time that Moore has hinted that Wilson might take over the mantle of the leader, previously the producer has teased that the Avengers are at their strongest when led by Captain America.
There is certainly more story to be told for Captain America. Sam might find that, moving forward, he might be jumping out of the frying pan and into the proverbial fire.
I think that Avengers teams are best when they are led by a Captain America. And this movie gives us a little bit of space to talk about, ‘Where are the Avengers? What does it mean to have Avengers? And is Sam the right guy to lead them?
All of this confirms some rumors we heard a few months ago that actually teased that the Avengers might have two co-leaders in the future – Captain America and Captain Marvel. We can expect that the MCU landscape will change significantly with the release of the new few upcoming films, and we can’t wait to see what Sam Wilson has in store for us.
