MCU has quite a lot of projects lined up for the next few years, some of those projects are confirmed and in active development, and some remain on a speculative basis like ‘Thor 5,’ and ‘Eternals 2.’ One franchise within the MCU that’s seen incredible popularity is the ‘Black Panther’ film series with so far 2 installments, the movies introduced some of the most popular characters in the MCU.

Wakanda will be the focus of many projects in the Multiversal Saga, starting with Ryan Coogler’s Wakanda-Set Television Series, Untitled Okoye Series, and the animated series ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ set to be released sometime in 2025.

A few months ago, ‘Black Panther 3’ was confirmed to be in development, with Denzel Washington revealing that Coogler is writing a role for him in the upcoming threequel. Aside from that, nothing is known about the plot but there are some strong rumors making rounds that Marvel Studios is looking to recast T’Challa, and fans have mixed feelings about it.

Now industry insider Alex Perez shed some light on the potential tone & plot of the movie in his latest Discord AMA.

Perez said that ‘Black Panther 3’ will likely focus on Toussaint, also known as T’Challa II, as the new Black Panther. However, other versions of Black Panther might appear in ‘Avengers’ movies before that. He also mentions that director Ryan Coogler wants the next ‘Black Panther’ movie to have a darker, more supernatural, and thriller-like tone compared to the previous films.

Alex Perez: To my understanding, it’s going to be Toussaint / T’Challa II moving forward for Black Panther 3, but that doesn’t eliminate the possibility of other Black Panther variants showing up in the Avengers’ films beforehand. I do want to take advantage of your question to address Black Panther 3, and do want to say what I’ve heard about the film and its theme. Compared to the previous films, Ryan Coogler is interested in leaning into a more horror/supernatural/thriller tone for this film.

‘Black Panther 3’ was rumored to be in development for several months prior to the official confirmation, but it’s unclear whether it’s going to be directly connected to animated projects set to release soon.
