Back in May 2020, the first speculations appeared that Disney might be working on a live-action adaptation of one of its most popular animated movies – ‘Tangled.’ Years later, in December 2024, Disney officially confirmed the live-action ‘Tangled’ film was in development. Michael Gracey, known for ‘The Greatest Showman’, was announced as the director, with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson set to write the script.

This news finally gave fans something to look forward to regarding a fresh take on the beloved story.

A few months ago insider Daniel RPK shared that Kathryn Hahn was being considered for a part in Disney’s live-action ‘Tangled.’ Then, Florence Pugh is reportedly the top choice for the lead role of Rapunzel. This isn’t the first time her name has been linked to the project as well.

Now the most recent rumors claim that Disney is considering Demi Moore for the role of Mother Gothel in the remake. Mother Gothel is the villain in the original animated film, and casting Moore for the role would be a big decision. While nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s exciting news for fans of both the movie and the actress.

In 2024, Demi Moore had a busy year with notable roles. She played socialite Ann Woodward in the ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’ series and starred as the wife of an oil tycoon in ‘Landman’ on Paramount+. In ‘The Substance,’ a body horror film, Moore portrayed an aging star using a black-market drug to regain her youth, a performance praised by critics.

She earned several award nominations and won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in the film. Critics widely regarded it as one of her best performances in years.
