New MCU Rumors Reveal What’s Next for Skrulls and Kang the Conqueror in the Future of the MCU

The MCU has taken some unexpected turns in recent years, with fans feeling underwhelmed by Phases 4 and 5. Two major projects that were meant to set up grand storylines failed to deliver, and the franchise’s anticipated big bad, Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, was dropped by the studio after being found guilty of assault charges.

The first project that disappointed many fans was Secret Invasion. While it was supposed to be based on the popular comic book storyline of the same name, it quickly became clear—even from the first episode—that the connection was minimal at best.

The show focused on the Skrulls taking matters into their own hands after Captain Marvel and Nick Fury failed to find them a suitable home. However, it suffered from pacing and writing issues, and its conclusion felt underwhelming. By the end, the Skrulls were still without a permanent home. The Marvels later revealed that they had settled on a planet called Tarnax, only to lose it again when Dar-Benn destroyed it while siphoning its air.

Now the Skrulls were barely mentioned in ‘The Marvels’ besides Nick Fury being present in the movie, and the ending of the show teased that he will focus on building lasting peace between the two races.

Now Alex Perez, a notable industry insider revealed in his most recent AMA what we can expect regarding Skrulls in the MCU. Perez said that he suspects that Skrulls won’t be villains in the future, and that is clearly consistent with the ending of the show.

We still have G’iah in the MCU, who worked with Fury and the rest of the team during the events of the show, and she is quite frankly one of the most powerful characters currently judging by our expectations she will certainly take part in Secret Wars.

As far as Kang the Conqueror goes, Perez stated that his future is currently null and void, as the character has been replaced by Doctor Doom. Perez also said that “The Kang Dynasty” project might only happen in the distant future, possibly after a major reset of the MCU in 20+ years, when people have forgotten about the current storylines.

Manglor: Do you believe there may still be a project with the title “The Kang Dynasty” at any point in the MCU’s future? 

Alex Perez: When they reset the MCU in 20+ years and everyone has forgotten about that.
