MCU’s ‘X-Men’ Reboot Reportedly Set for 2027 Release – Rumored Cast Includes Sadie Sink & Harris Dickinson!
The MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot is one of the most highly anticipated projects for fans, as it will officially introduce the mutant team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, replacing Fox’s previous X-Men franchise.
While details about the film remain scarce, Marvel Studios aims to strike a balance between humor and drama while also introducing some mutants who have yet to appear in live-action.
Recently, it was revealed that Michael Lesslie has been tapped to write the script. Best known for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Lesslie brings a strong pedigree to the project, making him a promising choice for the reboot.
Reports suggest that Lesslie pitched a full X-Men ‘97-inspired roster for the team. However, rumors indicate that Wolverine won’t be included initially, as Hugh Jackman is expected to continue playing the character beyond Secret Wars.
If true, the MCU’s X-Men reboot could feature a lineup including Cyclops, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Professor X, Morph, Bishop, Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot. Of course, these are just rumors for now, and nothing has been officially confirmed.
Now Jeff Sneider, a notable industry insider shared some new rumors related to the project. His report suggests that the upcoming X-Men is expected to start filming next year, with a planned release in 2027.
Additionally, there are rumors that Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Harris Dickinson (The Iron Claw), and Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) have been cast as Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Kitty Pryde, respectively. However, none of this has been officially confirmed yet, and it likely won’t be for quite some time.
Secret Wars will reportedly serve as a soft reboot for the MCU, with the studio aiming to “keep what’s working and drop what’s not.” The next saga of the MCU is rumored to focus heavily on mutants and magic.
