Bill Skarsgård Reportedly Joins Hugh Jackman in Leading Dark Reimagining: ‘The Death of Robin Hood’

Bill Skarsgård has reportedly been cast in ‘The Death of Robin Hood,’ a new film directed by Michael Saronski. He will star alongside Hollywood heavyweights Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer in what promises to be a thrilling reimagining of the legendary outlaw’s story. Industry insider Jeff Sneider shared the scoop in his newsletter InSneider.

This upcoming film takes a darker turn on the classic Robin Hood tale. The story follows Robin Hood as he struggles with his past after a life of crime. Wounded and vulnerable, he finds himself in the hands of a mysterious woman, played by Jodie Comer. As he faces his demons, the film explores his journey of redemption and survival.

Bill Skarsgård, known for his roles in ‘It’ and ‘John Wick: Chapter 4,’ is set to bring intensity and depth to the character. Hugh Jackman’s role in the film has not yet been revealed, but with his impressive acting range, fans can expect something incredible.

Director Michael Sarnoski revealed that ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ has been a long-time passion project for him. In an interview, he explained that he wrote the script for the movie before taking on the directorial role for ‘A Quiet Place: Day One.’

He made a personal commitment to balance big studio films with smaller, more personal projects. While working on ‘A Quiet Place: Day One,’ he continued refining ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ in the background, ensuring that his passion project remained in development.

“I wrote that script right before coming onto A Quiet Place. I kind of made a deal with myself where, if I was gonna do a big studio movie, I wanted to make sure I had my smaller passion project in the wings that I could be thinking about. So, I wrote it right before writing this and have just kind of been playing with it in the background.”

The tone of ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ will be a blend of large-scale action and intimate storytelling. The director described it as a mix of the epic Robin Hood adventures audiences are familiar with, combined with a deeply personal narrative. Given that A24 is producing the film, it is likely to have a unique and artistic approach, balancing blockbuster-style spectacle with emotional depth. Fans can expect both thrilling action sequences and a character-driven, thought-provoking story.
