‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Crew Member Says “Harrison Ford was one of the crankiest performers I ever dealt with…,” and that “He was very much a diva”

Marvel’s upcoming Captain America: Brave New World is generating a lot of buzz ahead of its release, but not for the right reasons. A recent report sheds light on behind-the-scenes troubles, including major reshoots, creative struggles, and allegations of difficult behavior from one of Hollywood’s most legendary actors, Harrison Ford.

A crew member who worked on the film spoke anonymously about the chaotic production, revealing concerns that surfaced during last summer’s reshoots. According to the source, the crew had doubts about the film early on, stating, “We knew this is probably not going to be a good film.

They described frustrations over last-minute script changes, particularly the introduction of the Serpent Society’s leader, which was repeatedly added and removed from the story. “Some of the action sequences were not believable,” they added, describing the constant back-and-forth as expensive and stressful for those involved.

The insider also claimed that Ford, who portrays U.S. President Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in the film, was difficult to work with on set. While expressing admiration for the actor’s past work, they described him as “one of the crankiest performers I ever dealt with” and accused him of creating an awkward atmosphere.

He was very much a diva,” the source said. “I don’t know if you remember, but he got in a plane crash. He couldn’t even raise his left arm above his chest. We have to suit up 80-something Harrison Ford in these motion-capture dots. To me, it seemed like he hated it and didn’t want to do it. And when Harrison was done, he was done. Everyone was trying to scramble to make him happy. That made for a very awkward work environment.”

On top of these challenges, the film’s political undertones may also be an issue for audiences. The anonymous crew member suggested that General Ross’ character has drawn comparisons to former U.S. President Donald Trump, which could affect how people perceive the film. “Maybe they were divided on who they were voting for? General Ross reads as an allusion to Trump. He’s this very powerful general who becomes kind of a fascist and turns into a raging Red Hulk,” they said.

Despite the production hurdles, lead actor Anthony Mackie has reassured audiences that the reshoots won’t impact the final product’s quality. Ford, despite the on-set challenges, has expressed interest in continuing his role as Ross and Red Hulk beyond this film.

Early reactions to Brave New World have been mixed, with audiences responding more positively than critics. However, box office projections have already been adjusted downward, with opening weekend expectations dropping from $90-100 million to $80-85 million.

Marvel’s latest installment features a star-studded cast, including Mackie, Ford, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker (Sidewinder), Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns (Leader), Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres (Falcon), Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Liv Tyler reprising her role as Betty Ross.
