Roy Orbison’s family has teamed up with Compelling Pictures to create a feature film and documentary about the legendary musician’s life and career. Tentatively named You Got It, after one of his hits, the film will focus more on Roy’s relationship with his wife, Barbara, than on his whole life story. Barbara, who became his manager, played a crucial role in his comeback just before his sudden death in 1988.

The movie will highlight their romance, showing the ups and downs of their journey together. Barbara passed away in 2011. Roy Orbison’s sons, Alex, Wesley, and Roy Jr., will act as executive producers.

Orbison, known for hits like Oh, Pretty Woman and Only the Lonely, faced many hardships in his life, including the tragic deaths of his first wife and two sons. Despite these challenges, his music kept going. His career surged again in the 1980s, especially with the success of his Traveling Wilburys supergroup and his 1988 album Mystery Girl.

His sons expressed excitement about the project, saying, ‘We’re thrilled to partner with Compelling Pictures on this journey through Roy’s life.’ The team behind the film, including Denis O’Sullivan and Jeff Kalligheri, is eager to share the deeply emotional story of Roy and Barbara, and their hope is that it will resonate with audiences just as much as Orbison’s music has.

Roy Orbison’s voice and his songs have had a lasting impact, and now his family is ensuring his story is told for future generations.
