Amanda Seyfried Takes on Crime and the Opioid Crisis in Gritty Peacock Thriller ‘Long Bright River’
Amanda Seyfried takes on a powerful new role in Peacock’s upcoming thriller series Long Bright River, where she plays a determined Philadelphia cop fighting the opioid crisis.
Seyfried stars as Mickey, a police officer patrolling the streets of her hometown, which has been devastated by addiction. Every day, she encounters people she once knew—former classmates who have lost their way due to drug use.
“I grew up here. I went to elementary school down the street, and so did a lot of the girls working the avenue,” Mickey says in the trailer. “It’s our job to protect them.”
When three women are found dead under suspicious circumstances, Mickey begins to suspect she has a personal connection to the case. As she searches for answers, she also investigates the disappearance of her friend Casey—keeping secrets from her fellow officers along the way.
The gripping eight-episode series is based on Liz Moore’s novel Long Bright River. Seyfried is joined by a talented cast, including Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, and John Doman. Additional guest stars include Dash Mihok, Britne Oldford, and Matthew Del Negro.
The show is written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano, with Seyfried also serving as an executive producer alongside Moore, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Amy Pascal.
Long Bright River premieres on Peacock on Thursday, March 13.
