The highly anticipated “Alien: Earth” TV series is making waves as it gears up for a mid-2025 release on FX on Hulu in the United States. Created by Noah Hawley of “Fargo” fame, the show promises a fresh take on the iconic Alien franchise, set right here on Earth, just a few years before the events of “Prometheus” and well before the terror of the original 1979 film.

Recently, Disney+ released a promo video to celebrate its fifth anniversary, showcasing what’s to come on both Disney+ and “Hulu on Disney+.” The video featured exciting new footage from “Alien: Earth,” including a glimpse of the dreaded xenomorph, a slimy alien egg, and Timothy Olyphant among scenes from other upcoming shows like “Dying for Sex” and “The Bear.”

“Alien: Earth” is set near the end of this century, exploring a scenario where humanity cannot contain the alien threat. The storyline revolves around a mysterious space vessel that crash-lands on Earth. Sydney Chandler plays Wendy, a unique character with the body of an adult but the mind of a child. She, along with a group of tactical soldiers, stumbles upon this dire threat to our planet. The series also delves into the origins of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the competitive race to develop artificial life.

Joining Chandler is a dynamic cast including Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Alex Lawther as a soldier named CJ, and Samuel Blenkin as CEO Boy Kavalier. The ensemble is rounded out by Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, and the synthetic mentor Kirsh, portrayed by Timothy Olyphant. Notable recurring roles include Sandra Yi Sencindiver as a senior member of Weyland-Yutani, hinting at her character’s potential expansion as the series evolves.

Behind the scenes, the show’s development has been a journey, with initial plans disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming finally commenced in Thailand in July 2023, navigating through challenges like the SAG-AFTRA strike with its predominantly British cast. The series wrapped filming in mid-July 2024, under the keen eye of cinematographer Steve Annis.

As “Alien: Earth” prepares to land on our screens, we’re all on edge to see how this new chapter will unfold on our home turf. What are your thoughts on bringing the xenomorphs to Earth? Let us know in the comments below!
