Xavier Is About to Be Hunted Down in the Latest X-Men Story, and Things Are Getting Intense

In Uncanny X-Men #11, we’re thrust into the start of the X-Manhunt event, where the X-Men’s leader, Xavier, finds himself as the target. But why is Xavier being hunted? It all ties into space, children, and a huge problem that’s urgent enough to not waste time explaining details.

Plus, with his mind-control powers and his time in Greymalkin Prison, things are more complicated than they seem.

This issue is a great jumping-on point for anyone interested in the event. Gail Simone does a solid job of bringing readers up to speed while reintroducing us to new mutants. Rogue is leading the team and feels the heavy weight of responsibility, especially since the young mutants’ lives are at risk. Simone does a great job of showing how much it’s all weighing on her.

The story kicks off in the Ryon Sector of the Phobos System, a place even space travelers are unfamiliar with. We’re guided through this by Xavier’s final journal entries, and the writing feels like someone who knows their time is running out—perhaps because his daughter, Xandra, is under attack.

The art by Javier Garron is impressive as Uncanny X-Men #11 delivers a strong start to X-Manhunt, mixing cosmic drama with grounded character moments.
