Bong Joon Ho Wants to Make an ‘Alien’ Musical
Famous filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, best known for his Oscar-winning movie Parasite, has revealed a surprising idea—he wants to make an Alien movie, but as a musical.
In a recent interview, Bong mentioned that he doesn’t usually like franchise films, but if he had to make one, he would love to create a unique version of Alien. Then, with his usual dry humor, he added, “An Alien musical.”
I’m not drawn to franchise films, but I did think at one point that I would like to do an ‘Alien’ film, an ‘Alien’ musical.
This idea is both strange and exciting. The Alien series, which started with Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror classic, is known for its dark, terrifying atmosphere. The thought of xenomorphs dancing and singing sounds completely different from anything we’ve seen before.
Of course, Bong didn’t actually say he’s making the film—just that he has thought about it. Right now, he’s focused on his new sci-fi movie, Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson. This film, which is about a man who keeps getting cloned after dying, is both serious and funny, mixing deep themes with absurd moments.
Still, if Bong ever decides to turn Alien into a musical, fans can expect something completely original. With his ability to blend horror, comedy, and social commentary, he might just be the perfect person to make the first-ever singing xenomorphs a reality.
