Brian Cox Mistakenly Signed Up for Game Show Thinking It Was a ‘James Bond’ Film

Brian Cox, the legendary actor known for his impressive roles in Succession, X-Men 2, and The Bourne Identity, recently made a humorous confession regarding his involvement in 007: Road to a Million, a game show based on the iconic James Bond franchise.
While many fans might think that Cox would be perfect for a high-stakes Bond film, he actually thought he was signing up for a new 007 movie.
Cox shared, “I actually thought, ‘Oh wow, I’m getting a James Bond film,’ and then I realized it wasn’t a Bond film but a game show.” This wasn’t quite the glamorous action-packed role he had expected. Instead of stepping into the world of high-tech gadgets, intense spy missions, and car chases, Cox found himself hosting a reality TV game show based on the famous spy franchise.
007: Road to a Million is a game show that Amazon Prime Video created as part of their effort to expand the James Bond universe after they acquired MGM, the home of the 007 films, in 2021.
The show puts contestants through a series of challenges inspired by the world of Bond, including testing their intelligence, teamwork, and physical abilities. While the show may offer a fun and interactive experience for fans, it’s far from the high-octane action that James Bond films are known for.
Cox’s involvement in the show highlights Amazon’s ambitious plan to turn the Bond franchise into a broader entertainment empire, looking beyond just films. The tech giant has already made efforts to branch out with TV shows and other spin-offs featuring the beloved characters and elements of the Bond world, and according to most recent revelations, it was exactly the reason why Amazon decided to buy out the creative rights from Broccoli.
Despite his initial surprise at finding out it wasn’t a movie, Cox has embraced his role in the show. However, many Bond fans have raised concerns over how Amazon is managing the 007 legacy, especially after the Broccoli family’s decision to step away from the franchise.
As for the future of the Bond franchise, many fans are wondering what direction Amazon will take next. Will they create a prequel series about a young James Bond, explore spinoff shows about iconic characters like Moneypenny or Felix Leiter, or even venture into new adventures with fresh takes on the legendary spy?
