‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Draws 7.5 Million Views in the First Week, but Still Lags Behind ‘Agatha All Along’

The latest Marvel series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” has made a powerful entrance on Disney+. Launched on March 4, 2025, the show quickly grabbed attention, pulling in 7.5 million views within its first five days. Disney+ counts a view as the total time streamed divided by the episode’s runtime. This strong start marks it as the platform’s biggest premiere of the year so far.
The series brings back familiar faces from the earlier Marvel-Netflix “Daredevil” show. Charlie Cox stars as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime at night as Daredevil in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen. Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk, the feared Kingpin.
Other returning actors include Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Wilson Bethel, Jon Bernthal, and Ayelet Zurer. Newcomers like Margarita Levieva, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, and Michael Gandolfini join the cast, adding fresh energy to the story.
“Daredevil: Born Again” follows Matt Murdock as he runs a busy law firm while clashing with Fisk, who is now chasing political power in New York. As their hidden pasts resurface, the two men head toward an unavoidable showdown. The show’s first season has nine episodes, and a second season is already being filmed, with plans for a 2026 release.
The debut’s 7.5 million views outshines some other recent Disney+ and Hulu launches. For example, “Paradise,” a drama with Sterling K. Brown, hit 7 million views in nine days. Meanwhile, “Agatha All Along,” another Marvel series, reached 9.3 million views in its first week back in September 2024. Disney+ rarely shares exact numbers, making direct comparisons tricky, but “Daredevil: Born Again” clearly stands out.
Then there’s “The Acolyte,” the Star Wars series featuring lightsabers and lesbian space witches—whether fans love it or hate it, it pulled in 11.1 million views in just five days, leaving “Daredevil: Born Again” nearly 4 million views behind.
The show’s production wasn’t smooth, with a major creative shakeup partway through. Dario Scardapane stepped in as showrunner and executive producer, joined by big names like Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and others. Directors included Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd. Despite the changes, the final product feels polished to many viewers.
A bold move came early in the season with the death of Foggy Nelson, a key character, just eight minutes into the premiere. Scardapane explained, “It was in the material that I inherited [from Chris Ord and Matt Corman], but unfortunately it was off-screen. And I felt really strongly that if we were to do something that earth-shattering and something that was going to cause such a ripple effect in Matt’s life, we had to see it and we had to feel it.”
Charlie Cox shared his mixed feelings: “When that was talked about in the beginning, I couldn’t quite get my head around that. [Killing Foggy] is one way to do it, but it’s a big choice.” He added, “I understand … that we need to make a big splash. We want to rock the boat early on and draw people in in a new way.”
What do you think about these numbers? How come ‘Agatha All Along’ pulled more?
