John Lithgow is bringing back one of his most chilling roles—Arthur Mitchell, also known as the Trinity Killer—in Dexter: Resurrection. The legendary actor recently confirmed his return to the Dexter universe

Lithgow originally played the Trinity Killer in Dexter Season 4, delivering one of the most terrifying and memorable performances in the show’s history. His character met a gruesome end at the hands of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), but in a surprising twist, Lithgow has revealed that he will be making a comeback.

“I just went back to do a day,” Lithgow shared. “They’re rebooting the entire Michael C. Hall version of Dexter. And it turns out he didn’t die after all. I come back sort of as a phantom, as he gradually comes to life on a hospital bed.

Dexter: Resurrection features an all-star cast alongside Hall and Lithgow, including Peter Dinklage, Eric Stonestreet, Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian, David Zayas, Jack Alcott, and James Remar. With such a powerhouse lineup, the reboot is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated TV events.

Lithgow’s return is particularly exciting because of how deeply his character affected Dexter’s story. In Season 4, the Trinity Killer was a master of deception—appearing as a kind-hearted family man while secretly committing a horrific cycle of murders. His chilling performance won Lithgow an Emmy, and many consider it one of the best villains in TV history.

With Dexter: Resurrection promising to bring back familiar faces and reimagine the original series, fans are eager to see what twists and turns await.
