Aaron Taylor-Johnson is soon going to grace theaters around the world as Kraven the Hunter, one of the most notable Spider-Man villains. But before he moved his superhero aspirations to the SSU Johnson was best known as playing Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver in the MCU.
His time in the role was short as he only appears in the mid-credits scenes of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ and he was always forced to share the spotlight with Evan Peters who famously portrayed the character in Fox X-Men franchise.
During his recent IMDb interview, the actor talked about how he and Evan Peters played Quicksilver in different movie franchises, and there’s no bad feeling between them.
He shared a story where they met at Comic-Con with the X-Men lineup, and they had a moment of appreciation, saying how lucky they were to be doing what they love, even though they were in separate universes.
I remember passing him in Comic-Con where they had the X-men lineup of guys. And we both had a moment like, sort of a pinch yourself moment, of like, “Oh my god, aren’t we so lucky that we got to be here and still be here doing what we love doing? But funny that are we are two different universes doing it.”
And to be honest I have a huge admiration for what he was able to do with his character, with some things that I think were fantastic and worked really well for that character. It’s interesting to kind of have that, you know?
And I think when you’re a comic books character that has the sort of attachment to Magneto and all that, House of M, there’s a different – you know, you can have these different connections. That’s kind of cool.
Johnson then commented on his and Olsen’s action figures with admiration noting that the likeness is insane.
Honestly, it’s one of those things where you kind of go you know, someone makes a figurine, doll figurine of a character you play it’s kind of mind-blowing. It is very overwhelming.
The highs and the lows, I try, I almost, it’s almost as if they neutralize each other out beacuse it’s such a high that you kind of don’t know where to go. So sometimes you’re constantly just kind of never taking them for granted by any means. But it’s wild.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson praised Elizabeth Olsen, calling her an amazing actor, a star, and a lovely person.
He mentioned how lucky he was to work with her, as they played husband and wife in ‘Godzilla’ and brother and sister in ‘Avengers.’ He also jokingly wondered why she didn’t bring him back to life in the movies given her reality-altering powers.
Lizzie Olsen, is a phenomenal actor, absolute star, and a wonderful person, a wonderful human being. She’s really lovely. Yeah I was very fortunate. We play husband and wife in Godzilla and we play brother and sister in Avengers. And I don’t know why she didn’t resurrect me though.
We will always remember Johnson’s performance fondly, who knows, maybe he will return to the MCU in ‘Secret Wars,’ or eventually cross over as Kraven? It would certainly make things interesting.
