The upcoming Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 has made a huge impact in the world of comic books, with over 120,000 pre-orders, making it a big success for comic book sales. However, Absolute Flash #1 has even surpassed those numbers, showing that both titles are defying expectations and selling better than anyone anticipated.

Scott Snyder, known for his work on various DC titles, shared his excitement about the Absolute line on the Comic Watchers YouTube podcast. He expressed how proud he is of the creative team behind Absolute Martian Manhunter, especially writers Deniz Camp and artist Javier Rodriguez.

Snyder praised their unique approach to the character, noting how this new version of Martian Manhunter brings artistic ambition and bold ideas to the table.

Snyder explained that the Absolute line of comics, which started with a few similar themes, is now branching out to offer a variety of storytelling styles. He highlighted Absolute Martian Manhunter as a perfect example of this shift, calling the comic unconventional, daring, and filled with grand ideas. “It’s really ambitious… I think it’s going to win the Eisner,” Snyder said, referring to the prestigious Eisner Awards. He also shared his excitement over the comic’s strong sales numbers, something that surprised many in the industry.

Martian Manhunter sold over 120,000 copies, which to us is mind-blowing,” Snyder continued. “That’s not a book you would expect to sell 100,000, nor is Absolute Flash, which sold even more. Those numbers are insane to all of us. It’s so gratifying to see people showing up for these stories.

Both Absolute Martian Manhunter and Absolute Flash are showing that there is a growing demand for bold, creative comics, and the success of these titles has proven that readers are excited to see new and unconventional takes on beloved characters.
