‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ released its fifth episode this week, and following two episodes where absolutely nothing happened, this week’s episode delivered everything all at once. If you haven’t watched the latest episode and don’t want things spoiled, I would advise you to stop reading right here since the following parts are going to be insanely filled with spoilers, and boy are there are many spoilers.

In episode 5, we see the confrontation between the Jedi and The Master. Most of the Jedi from the search party are wiped out in the first few minutes of the show. As the episodes progress our main characters are wiped out one by one, including Jecki Lon and Yord.

The Sith Lord turned out to be Qimir, yes the most obvious choice was the correct one, he got unmasked sometime during the middle of the episodes, and his lines were a bit cringy, but Sith are cringe in itself so this isn’t really all that surprising. The action was phenomenal, I have to add.

The only survivors of the whole ordeal are Master Sol, Osha, Mae, and Qimir (and Bazil… the they/them tracker). With Mae and Osha switching places, Mae leaves for Coruscant with Master Sol and Qimir picks up confused Osha after he finds her alive among the bodies of her fallen comrades.

The episode truly did deliver an incredibly morbid twist to the whole mystery of how Mundi never learned of the Sith Lord attacking the Jedi 100 years before the events of ‘Phantom Menace’ – beacuse they all died, just like my colleague Arthur theorized it could happen in his last week’s piece.

Now the reactions are for the first time, mostly positive with plenty of fans commenting on what an abrupt turn ‘The Acolyte’ made in a single episode:

Naturally, there were some negative comments, but nowhere near in quantity as the first four episodes and most of the criticism is focused on characters acting inconsistent Jedi doing stupid things and dying too early.

We definitely look forward to the next week’s episode, however, you should really adjust your expectation beacuse it’s going to be hard to top this one, both in terms of action, suspense, and plot twists.
