Fans Consider ‘The Acolyte’ Redeemed as Finale Reactions Pour In: “Star Wars Is Back Everyone”

This week marks the final episode of ‘The Acolyte’ season 1. The show has been controversial since its first two episodes aired with plenty of highly negative, highly positive, and some “mixed” reactions.

The show had pacing, acting, and dialogue issues, but it still managed to round up the story and close it neatly, while eventually leaving enough material and story to continue in season 2, if it comes to it.

The final episode saw Master Sol, Osha, Qimir, and Mae finally returning to where everything began, to Brendok. Sol is held accountable for his crimes, as he is finally forced to admit to Osha that he was the one to murder their mother, not Mae. In a complete switch of personality, Mae, who initially wanted to murder Sol, refused to finish him off, wanting him to face the consequences of his actions in front of the Jedi Council, the Senate, and the Republic.

However, learning that Sol lied to her for decades, Osha decides to kill Sol bleeding her Kyber crystal in the process, finishing her initiation to the Dark Side. Mae’s mind is wiped so the Jedi can’t use her to track down Qimir and Osha, and Osha is eventually presented as Qimir’s – THE acolyte.

Meanwhile, we’ve gotten some taste of that Republic politics as Vernestra Rwoh is cornered by Senator Rayencourt who basically tells her that the Jedi are criminals and hiding their true intentions. He describes them as sociopaths who are eventually going to go off. He also let her know that he reported her for not being transparent regarding everything that happened on Khofar.

Vernestra is at the end of the episode forced to tie everything neatly and sort through the mess. She comes clean regarding everything that took place on Brendok 16 years ago but blames the Khofar murders on Master Sol. She claims that the criminal has been apprehended, as Sol seemingly decided to commit suicide.

It’s a good enough strategy to pin everything on Sol, he is after all not around to defend himself, and it’s a believable story easy to digest by the Senate. After all the story that Vernestra serves comes close to what Senator Rayencourt has been accusing her of. Vernestra now has custody of Mae, and she aims to utilize her to find her “former pupil that turned to the dark side,” confirming that she is the one who trained Qimir while he was in the Jedi order.

We get cameos of two important figures. Darth Plagueis and Yoda, and most fans agree that these were the high points of the episode – which is in my personal opinion – sad.

Now, the majority of the reactions to the final episode are positive as far as I could see, so let’s take a look at some of them.

Then there are fans who consider the show irredeemable:
