Donald Trump’s desire to see Canada become the 51st U.S. State is something that has been commented on and ridiculed on more than one occasion. His idea, while ludicrous, is something he often relies on, even calling Canada’s PM, Justin Trudeau, the “governor of Canada.

But while Trump will be Trump, Canadians have taken a firm stance against his ridiculous rants and the Canadian government is not backing down when faced with the U.S. President’s demands. Now, the fight has taken on a new form, as a new satirical video has appeared online and you’ll love it (especially if you’re Canadian!).

The video comes from actor Jeff Douglas, who has revived his famous character known as Joe Canadian. Joe first appeared 25 years ago in an ad for Molson Beer and has since become a sort of pop culture icon in Canada. Now, Douglas has brought Joe back to put Trump in his place:

Joe’s message is clear: “They (US) mistake our modesty for meekness, our kindness for consent, our nation for another star on their flag, and our love of hot cheesy poutine with their love of a hot cheesy Putin. Are we perfect? No. But we are not the 51st anything,” he claims in the video.

The message is clear, and while Trump’s idea has been branded as ridiculous from the start, it needed to be said: “We are the first to unite in the crisis, the first to build bridges – not walls – and the first to stand on guard for thee.”

You can enjoy the full clip and see what else Douglas said!
