‘Agatha All Along’ Possibly Gave Us Our First Look at MCU’s Blackheart
‘Agatha All Along’ premiered with the first two episodes. So far, the audiences are loving it, but the critics – not so much. The show picks up after the events of ‘WandaVision.’ Agatha or rather Agnes is living her life imprisoned by the spell cast by Scarlet Witch when she is broken out of the spell by Locke’s The Teen.
The Teen and Agatha then find common ground, they both need to walk the Witches Road, the Teen in search of power while Agatha naturally wants to reclaim her powers as she has returned powerless.
One of the first supporting characters we meet is Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal. It’s been confirmed ahead of the show’s release that Rio Vidal is a green witch, and this is where things get interesting.
To walk the Witches’ Road, Agatha needs a coven, and to do that she visits her former “friends” and “acquaintances.” Agatha eventually seeks out Lilia Calderu (Patti LuPone) a witch who gives her a list of names to recruit for her coven. One of the names on the list isn’t really a name but rather a symbol, a black heart.
Agatha assumes correctly that this symbol represents a green witch, and the only green witch that Agatha wants to take into consideration is her neighbor Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp) but considering that Rio Vidal is also a green witch, the heart might represent Agatha’s and Rio’s complicated past as its been hinted that the two were in the past romantically involved.
Now Agatha explains the black heart with the fact that Lilia had a black pen when she was drawing the symbol, but it might hint at something far more sinister and it’s connected to Mephisto.
Mephisto was already rumored to appear in the show, but what if his son is also set to appear but in a gender-bent version? Blackheart was born from the accumulated evil in a place called Christ’s Crown, New York—a location steeped in dark energies due to centuries of human violence and sin. Mephisto, intrigued by the growing corruption, crafted Blackheart from this energy, raising him as his heir and guiding him on how to corrupt everything and everyone.
As a demon, Blackheart possesses immense supernatural abilities. He can manipulate dark magic, and warp reality, and has superhuman strength, speed, and endurance. He is also capable of teleportation, telepathy, and energy projection.
Blackheart most frequently clashed with Ghost Rider, and considering that the character is rumored to be introduced in the MCU, taking into account the presence of Jennifer Kale and other references, ‘Agatha All Along’ just might be setting up a rumored ‘Midnight Sons’ project.
But, who might be Blackheart? Well, it’s either Rio Vidal or Mrs. Hart. Vidal seems more dangerous and therefore is a natural conclusion to jump to, so it’s quite likely that ol’ Mrs. Hart who seemingly has no idea that she is a witch might turn out to be an ancient demon.
