Iron Man is, without a doubt, one of the most popular superheroes in the MCU ever. Over the years, he appeared in many movies and greatly impacted each. Tony’s charisma, intellect, and boldness always guaranteed great entertainment, and his character is a joy to watch. With that in mind, let’s remind ourselves of all Iron Man movies and appearances.

How many Iron Man movies are there?

There are three standalone ‘Iron Man’ movies. However, Tony Stark played a big part in the MCU and was also one of the key characters in six other movies in the franchise. Iron Man appeared in 9 movies and had one uncredited cameo. Overall, Tony Stark went down in history as one of the most popular Marvel superheroes ever appearing in live-action movies.

Iron Man movies and appearances are released as follows:

1. ‘Iron Man’ (2008)

Iron Man Movie

The first ‘Iron Man’ movie poses as the titular character’s origin story and also starts off the entire franchise. Tony Stark is severely wounded and kidnapped by the terrorists. The only way to survive is to escape from captivity, and he does that by creating a suit made of iron like it was never seen before. When he returned home, his true journey began.

2. ‘Iron Man 2’ (2010)

The world is familiar with Tony Stark being Iron Man in the second installment. The US Government is adamant that he needs to hand over his technology to them, and another power-hungry inventor, Justin Hammer, is trying to replicate Tony’s technology. Iron Man also has to face Ivan Vanko, a vengeful physicist with his own powerful energy whips, all while the arc reactor in Tony’s chest, which powers his suit, is slowly poisoning him.

3. ‘The Avengers’ (2012)

‘The Avengers’ assembled the Earth’s mightiest heroes to stop Loki and Chitauri’s invasion of New York. The movie showed us a team-up of legendary superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Thor. All of them have to work together and put their different opinions aside. Tony witnesses for the first time where the Earth’s true threat lies when he carries a missile through the wormhole in the sky.

4. ‘Iron Man 3’ (2013)

This movie showcased Tony Stark as more vulnerable than ever. When his mistakes from the past came after him in the present, he almost lost everything he ever cared about. Following the event in ‘The Avengers’, Tony is struggling and tries to occupy himself by creating as many suits as possible, only to sacrifice them for a greater cause.

5. ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (2015)

In this one, Tony’s own creation turns against him and threatens to destroy humanity as we know it. Avengers are forced to confront the villainous artificial intelligence known as Ultron, and it is up to Iron Man and his teammates to stop Ultron before he takes control of the world and reshapes it to his own liking.

One is led by Iron Man, and the other by Captain America. All of it culminates in a grand clash between two friends and brothers in arms.

7. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ (2017)

Even though this movie is centered around Peter Parker and his will to prove himself worthy of being an Avenger, Iron Man poses as Peter’s mentor and guides him through his first superhero steps. 8. ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018)

When Thanos comes looking for the Infinity Stones, the Avengers respond and confront him. Iron Man ends up on Titan with Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, and they devise a plan to defeat Thanos and steal the Infinity Gauntlet from him.

9. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019)

The Avengers failed, and Thanos managed to fulfill his plans. All that resulted in half of the universe’s population being wiped out of existence. However, five years later, a new opportunity to undo Thanos’s actions arose, and Avengers decided to take it. There was only one outcome in which the mightiest heroes came victorious, including Tony sacrificing himself and ensuring everyone else’s survival.
