Amandla Stenberg Says ‘The Acolyte’ Getting Canceled Is “Not a Huge Shock” Due to the Extreme Vitriol from Star Wars Fans

Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the most recent and most controversial installment in the franchise to date. The show was involved in several controversies even before it was released, and things got so much worse once when the first episodes aired and it became obvious that the show had some objective issues with quality.

Despite a massive budget, the show failed to keep the viewers entertained and the show was losing numbers week by week. It was ultimately canceled after only 8 episodes.

This came as a shock to no one, if you’ve watched even a single episode of the show you likely noticed that pretty much every aspect of it, except for the action was lacking. Even the show’s main star, Amandla Stenberg was not shocked by the show’s cancelation, although her explanation might be radically different than yours.

The actress recently took to social media to address the cancellation. The star blames hyper-conservative bigotry, vitriol, prejudice, and hatred for the show’s failure.

There has been a rampage of vitriol that we have faced since the show was even announced… a rampage of, I would say, hyper-conservative bigotry and vitriol, prejudice, hatred and hateful language towards us.

The star also addressed the loyal fans who have been following her and supporting her every step of the way:

it has been an incredible honor and dream for me to be in this universe” and the audiences who did watch the show “were deeply loved and appreciated, and it made this job all the worthwhile for me.

And if any cast member of the show really knows about hatred and vitriol it’s definitely Stenberg. As the main star, playing both Osha and Mae, Stenberg was most often the target of both racism and legitimate criticism in terms of bad acting skills that are not up to standard for a franchise like Star Wars.

This led the actress to address her haters through a song she created herself, she posted it to her social media which in turn led to more harassment and more legitimate complaints.

Stenberg ultimately thanked Leslye Headland for one of the best experiences she ever had:

I have to thank Leslye Headland, I just f**** love that b****….one of the best people in the world, she’s so incredibly talented and unique and kind and I’ll love her forever, and I’ll love this experience with her forever.
