Andrew Garfield Would Be Eager to Return as Spider-Man If Marvel Delivers a Great Story

Spider-Man’s story is considered the most intricate among MCU superheroes due to the character’s rights being held by Sony rather than Marvel Studios. As a result, the earlier Spider-Man films had minimal connections to the broader MCU.

However, when Tom Holland took on the role, Sony and Marvel collaborated to produce three films featuring him.

The final installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, brought together Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man in a multiversal plot that also included several familiar adversaries.

Following the film’s massive success, fans have continued to speculate whether Marvel and Sony will create a sequel.

Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man remains a hot topic, with many fans believing he didn’t get a proper conclusion to his story. Recently, he was asked if he would be willing to return for another film, and we’re here to share his response.

We recently speculated that if a fourth Spider-Man film is released in 2026, taking place after Doomsday, Marvel might consider bringing back both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for another installment.

This could make sense if Doctor Doom sends the heroes to Battleworld after Doomsday, which seems plausible based on the developments in the comic storyline.

While we’re unsure of Marvel’s exact plans, we believe that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man deserves a return for another adventure, as he still has many untold stories and internal conflicts to navigate.

A film featuring Holland and Garfield as the two Spider-Men in challenging situations would provide an excellent opportunity to explore these themes, including the potential for a mentor-student dynamic reminiscent of the Spider-Man movies and video games.

Garfield appears to share this sentiment; in a recent interview with Esquire, he was asked if he would be interested in reprising his role as Spider-Man, and here’s what he had to say:

“It was really healing for me. For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and
odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into. I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”

Garfield has consistently expressed similar sentiments over the years, so this isn’t particularly surprising. We remain hopeful that everyone will get what they want: another memorable moment featuring Garfield’s Spider-Man.
