Ant-Man movies are a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they follow Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man, a superhero with the ability to shrink in size, among other abilities. With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s release, the trilogy is seemingly at an end. Now, let’s take a look at the full watch order.

Editor’s note: The watch order has been updated on February 17th, 2023 with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

How many Ant-Man movies are there?

There are currently three Ant-Man stand-alone movies. The first film, Ant-Man, was released in 2015, and the second one, Ant-Man and the Wasp, three years later in 2018. The third movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was released in 2023. However, there are also other Marvel movies where Ant-Man plays an important part in the storyline, like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame.

The Ant-Man movies are centered around Scott Lang ( Paul Rudd ), who comes into possession of a high-tech suit that grants him the ability to shrink and enlarge himself in size. With those powers in his hands, he soon realizes he has the chance to become something more and leave his criminal past behind him.

Ant-Man movies in order – at a glance

When the first Ant-Man movie was released back in 2015, the movie was a great success. The audience fell in love with the Ant-Man character as he was portrayed as funny, resourceful, and intelligent. It was also clear that the Ant-Man would become a part of a bigger picture that the MCU was preparing, so it was only a matter of time before the sequel was released.

The second movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, was released in 2018, but Ant-Man also appeared in Captain America: Civil War which was released in 2016. And that is where we see Scott Land alongside other Avengers for the first time. After Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott came to some important conclusions about time travel which he later shared with the remains of the Avenger team in Avengers: Endgame. That movie was released in 2019. So even though there are three stand-alone Ant-Man movies, in this article, we’ll point out all the movies where Scott plays a role.

  3. Ant-Man and the Wasp ( 2018 )
  4. Avengers: Endgame ( 2019 )

The knowledge about the potential of time travel that Scott Lang provided Avengers with was essential to bring back all the people and habitats of the Universe after Thanos’s snap.

Do you need to watch Ant-Man movies in order?

Quantumaina gives more depth to Lang’s story, and as the first movie in MCU’s phase 5, it introduces a new villain, Kang the Conqueror.

Are Ant-Man movies connected?

Both Ant-Man movies are connected, and the other movies mentioned in this article also have a direct connection with the Ant-Man movies.

Will there be more Ant-Man movies?

With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Lang’s future will likely continue in other MCU movies instead of in his own solo projects.
