Anthony Mackie Comments on “Red-Hulk/Donald Trump Comparisons”: “Let’s just go to the movies and chill the f*ck out”
We have less than three weeks to go until the release of ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ The movie is scheduled for Valentine’s Day release on February 14th and will be Sam Wilson’s first solo outing as Captain America in an MCU movie.
The cast of the movie features Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, who steps into the role as an underdog using his vibranium shield and wingsuit to prove himself as a leader. Danny Ramirez plays Joaquin Torres, Wilson’s friend and the new Falcon, while Carl Lumbly returns as Isaiah Bradley, a super soldier with a painful past.
The film will also introduce Harrison Ford’s President Thaddeus Ross, who becomes Red Hulk, Giancarlo Esposito as the villainous Sidewinder, and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, alongside several other notable characters.
The movie’s promotion has already started and unfortunately, it has found itself in the midst of a bizarre political mess as plenty of fans are comparing the movie’s villain Red Hulk to the current POTUS Donald Trump.
Anthony Mackie was asked about potential comparisons between the Red Hulk and Donald Trump. Instead of engaging in the political discourse, Mackie downplayed the controversy, expressing frustration with constant political debates seeping into entertainment.
He suggested that audiences should focus on enjoying movies rather than turning them into political battlegrounds. His point was reinforced by a humorous remark, stating that if the character had been made yellow instead of red, people would still find a reason to be upset.
I hope, as a country, we’re tired of all the political jousting. Let’s just go to the movies and chill the fuck out. We could’ve made this motherfucker yellow and it would’ve been a problem.
Essentially, he was calling for people to relax and not overanalyze fictional characters through a political lens.
Mackie himself was targeted by controversy due to his recent statement where he declared that Captain America shouldn’t represent America but rather dignity and honor. He later explained what he actually meant in a social media post:
