‘Spider-Man 4’ is one of the most exciting MCU projects currently in development. The movie was made official more than a year ago, but it was only recently that we got the news that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and that Zendaya and Holland will reprise their respective roles.
At this point, nothing is known about the movie except what we’ve already mentioned. According to early reports, the movie was supposed to be a street-level story that saw Spider-Man going up against Kingpin. But with Kang the Conqueror out of the picture and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom being the new villain, it seems that the upcoming Spider-Man flick will be a tmultiversal story.
Zendaya will reportedly be back in a smaller role according to the latest rumors due to her other commitments, but this also makes sense story-wise considering that she currently doesn’t remember Peter. A couple of weeks ago, reports claimed that Marvel Studios was casting a new male and female lead for the film to star opposite of Holland’s Spider-Man and Zendaya’s MJ.
Several names have been mentioned including Sydney Sweeney as a potential Black Cat and Madelyn Cline. Now Daniel Richtman has revealed one more potential name. According to the industry insider, Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed for the role in the movie.
Anya Taylor-Joy is known for playing unique and intense characters, like Beth Harmon in the hit series ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ and Thomasin in the horror film ‘The Witch.’ She’s also starred in big movies like ‘Split’ and ‘The Menu,’ showing her talent for both drama and thrillers.
Her most recent big production was ‘Mad Max’ prequel, ‘Furiosa.’ Richtman also reminded fans that Joy was eyed for the role of Silver Surfer in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, before the role ultimately went to Julia Gardner.
So far the studio did not confirm the rumors, and it’s likely going to be quite some time before we hear about the casting details in an official sense.
