Looks Like Kang Is Out of the Big Picture as ‘Avengers 5’ Is Getting a New Focus & New Title

MCU as a franchise continues with over 30 projects either rumored or in active development, among them two flagship movies are scheduled to release in the next few years ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’

The Hollywood Reporter recently announced that the Russo Brothers are in talks to direct the upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies but with some significant changes.

The Multiverse Saga of the MCU was previously supposed to focus on Kang the Conqueror, a time-traveling warlord poised to take Thanos’ place as the main villain of the MCU. However, following Jonathan Majors’ legal troubles and subsequent convictions, it looks like those plans won’t come to fruition any longer.

Jonathan Majors’ career has been in somewhat of a freefall ever since he was arrested in March 2023 after an alleged assault of a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend. He was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.

Fans started several campaigns to reinstate the actor, but none gave any positive results.

Following the guilty verdict, the actor playing Kang the Conqueror/He Who Remains/Victor Timely in ‘Loki’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ was let go from the studio, and it’s been claimed that the team now uses a different name for ‘Kang Dynasty’.

Those rumors were now confirmed by THR reports. It’s been reported that the movie will be renamed and it will put someone else in focus. Two likely candidates emerge, Doctor Doom and the Beyonder, as the true villains of the Multiverse Saga. But those are just speculations, it’s never been confirmed in an official capacity.

As far as Russo Brothers directing the movies goes, fans are pleased. They directed four of Marvel’s most successful films: ‘Captain America: Civil War’ (2016), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018), and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019). Collectively, these movies grossed $6.681 billion, with ‘Endgame’ ranking as the second highest-grossing film globally, earning $2.79 billion.
