‘Avengers 5’ Provides Major News About Movie’s Villain(s), Directors & Characters To Appear!

Out of all the movies on Marvel Studios’ release schedule, the ‘Avengers’ franchise is undoubtedly the most exciting one. We know that two new ‘Avengers’ movies are in development, and when it comes to the fifth installment in the franchise, we’ve been through a lot in the last few months.

Now the latest news (and rumors) shed some more light on the whole affair, as Deadline reports that the studio is coming really close to choosing a director for the production.

According to Deadline, Waldron has handed in the script for the upcoming movie to Shawn Levy. Levy became a notable name in the industry with ‘Night at the Museum’ franchise, ‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Free Guy,’ and the upcoming release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ a movie that is already brewing to be a billion-dollar hit for the studio.

Levy has not accepted the role yet and we can expect to have confirmation in the following weeks. Deadline’s sources also report that over 60 MCU characters might reprise their roles, including stars like Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, and Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu, and Karen Gillan. Unlike the first four films, which focused on a core group led by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Hemsworth, and Ruffalo, this film will feature many characters on equal footing, making it an ensemble piece rather than being led by a few key characters.

Then there’s also the question of the main villain, unfortunately, ‘Avengers 5’ is set to enter production next year but we still have no idea whether Kang the Conqueror remains the main villain of the movie, and the main villain of this phase.

Following Majors’ problematic dismissal, pretty much an equal amount of rumors and speculation appeared that pointed in the direction of both the studio recasting Kang and focusing on a different villain altogether.

Overall, it’s clear that ‘Avengers 5’ will be the studio’s largest production to date. Filming was scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom but faced delays due to Majors’s firing. “Avengers 5” is slated for release on May 1, 2026.
