‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Could Set the Stage for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Return in Spider-Man 4

When it comes to Marvel superheroes, Spider-Man has one of the most intricate backstories due to the character’s rights belonging to Sony rather than Marvel Studios. This division meant that earlier Spider-Man films were separate from the MCU. However, with Tom Holland taking on the role, Sony and Marvel collaborated on three successful movies featuring Holland.

The final installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, famously reunited Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men with Holland’s Spider-Man in a multiverse storyline that also brought back several classic villains. The film was a huge hit, leading fans to hope for a similar approach in the next Spider-Man film.

Marvel is indeed working on Spider-Man 4, and many fans are eager to see Maguire and Garfield return. Based on Marvel’s upcoming plans, the studio seems to have a clever and straightforward way to bring all three actors back for another thrilling adventure!

Regarding the future of the Spider-Man franchise, Kevin Feige confirmed in July that Spider-Man 4 is in development and will definitely be produced.

“Amy [Pascal] and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon.”

We recently reported that the script for Spider-Man 4 underwent changes, including the removal of Kingpin—a move that disappointed many fans. However, this doesn’t mean the film won’t succeed, especially if Marvel decides to include all three Spider-Men. With Doomsday and Secret Wars on the horizon, the studio has a clever way to achieve this.

If Spider-Man 4 is released in 2026 and is set after Doomsday, Marvel could potentially bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for another film. If Doctor Doom sends the heroes to Battleworld after Doomsday, which seems likely, the multiverse element will remain intact.

If Spider-Man 4 is set on Battleworld, Marvel could easily reintroduce Maguire and Garfield, making for an incredible film. Of course, this is just a theory based on current information, but here’s hoping it becomes a reality!
