‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Could Secretly Be an Avengers vs. X-Men Movie

The Mutants are coming to the MCU — a fact we’ve known since Disney acquired Fox. While you might argue that some mutants have already appeared in the MCU, the X-Men themselves have not, and their full debut is still on the horizon. We’ve been promised that when they do arrive, it will be a significant moment.

Though the details remain unclear, it’s certain that Kevin Feige and Marvel want to get this right. The introduction of the X-Men will be a major event that will shape the MCU’s future for years, so it has to be executed flawlessly.

While there are no specific details yet, there is a compelling theory about the plot of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ that might be connected to the X-Men’s debut in the MCU.

We know that ‘Secret Wars’ is set to be a major multiversal event and will wrap up the storyline involving Doctor Doom. With the Mutants already established in the MCU, this could be the perfect opportunity to bring them into the main narrative. A multiversal movie would allow the X-Men to seamlessly enter the MCU, much like the Spider-Men came together in ‘No Way Home’ or the cameos in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. However, this time, it would be a permanent move, significantly shaping the MCU’s future.

There is a strong possibility that ‘Secret Wars’ could feature a major clash between the Avengers and the X-Men, similar to the ‘Avengers vs. X-Men’ comic series, even though that storyline wasn’t part of the original ‘Secret Wars’ comics. Given how Marvel adapted ‘Civil War’ with its own creative twist, it’s reasonable to think ‘Secret Wars’ could take a similar approach, making it an ideal way to introduce the X-Men to the MCU.

Moreover, such a clash would be a thrilling spectacle — a face-off between the Avengers and the X-Men that ultimately leads to them recognizing a shared enemy in Doctor Doom. This would naturally set up an epic ‘Endgame’-style showdown against Doom, which fans would undoubtedly love to see.

This scenario could also provide Marvel with a chance to redefine its superhero lineup for the future, allowing them to retire some older characters and establish a new core team moving forward — an exciting prospect for the MCU’s next chapter.
