‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Rumored to Include a Council of Reeds Featuring Ioan Gruffudd

MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2025, 2026, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.

Fans have plenty of expectations especially regarding ‘Secret Wars.’ There are close to a hundred characters rumored to appear in the movie, and we’ve previously discussed the rumor that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will also be included.

But the most recent significant rumor is tied to a character that appeared in the MCU only in the technical sense, and we’re talking about Reed Richards. As you probably know by now, Fantastic Four will debut in the MCU with the release of ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ next year. Reed Richards will be portrayed by Pedro Pascal, while Krasinski portrayed the variant in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’

Our rumor is interesting since it claims that the Council of Reeds will make an appearance in the movie, which will be an excuse to get Ioan Gruffudd to reprise his role. This rumor comes from Cosmic Circus’ September Discord AMA:

Council of Reeds was an idea I heard being tossed around. Lots of self-congratulatory Reed Richards praise, plus the opportunity to get Ioan Gruffudd again.

Gruffudd played Reed Richards in ‘Fantastic Four’ released in 2005 and the sequel ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ although the movies had a somewhat mixed reception, his take on Reed was generally good.

As far as the Council of Reeds is concerned, The Council of Reeds is a collective of Reed Richards from various alternate realities. These versions of Reed Richards are typically gathered to address cosmic or multiversal threats or to solve problems that are too vast or complex for a single individual.

Now you can see why the Council would be useful in ‘Secret Wars’ especially if the Avengers and Fantastic Four found themselves in a reality-breaking event against Doctor Doom.

And….before you ask, the possibility of Krasinski appearing is slim, mostly due to his character being killed by Scarlet Witch in ‘Multiverse of Madness.’
