‘The Batman Part II’ is currently in development. Although the movie has been delayed for nearly a year, we’re still getting regular updates on its progress.
Robert Pattinson will once again play Bruce Wayne, Zoë Kravitz will return as Selina Kyle (Catwoman), and Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce’s loyal butler.
Colin Farrell will also be back as the Penguin, completing the main cast. While most of the cast has been confirmed for a while, one character still has some uncertainty: Barry Keoghan’s Joker.
Keoghan recently addressed his potential role during his Happy, Sad, Confused appearance and to sum it up, it’s uncertain.
It’s a big one, but I am going to say that, if the opportunity came about, yes, I’d love to explore, and given the opportunity, really dive into it. But I have not been contacted, I’ve not heard anything.
Keoghan played an “Unseen Arkham Prisoner” in The Batman (2022). Director Matt Reeves later confirmed that the character was actually the Joker. Warner Bros. released a deleted scene with Keoghan’s Joker and Robert Pattinson’s Batman on March 24, 2022, three weeks after the movie came out, and fans reacted positively to it.
Recently, rumor was making rounds that a solo show focusing on the Joker was in development as a part of Matt Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga, however, those rumors were debunked just a day later by James Gunn himself.
Over a year ago, Collider reported that Keoghan would reprise his role as the Joker in the sequel, but the studio never provided official confirmation.
