John Jackson Miller, a bestselling author, is releasing a new Batman novel called Batman: Revolution this October. This book follows Batman: Resurrection, which was set in the world of Tim Burton’s Batman films.

Revolution continues the story from Resurrection, taking place between Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), and brings in the Riddler as a major character.

The story begins with Gotham City celebrating the Fourth of July. The Joker’s influence has faded, and the mayor teams up with business tycoon Max Shreck to throw a big celebration. But not everyone is happy. Batman is still watching over the city, dealing with rising crime and protests against the city’s wealth.

The central character is Norman Pinkus, a lowly copy boy at The Gotham Globe. Norman is the genius behind the paper’s popular puzzles but remains unnoticed by everyone. For years, he’s been secretly solving crimes before Batman even hears about them.

As he watches Gotham change, Norman becomes disillusioned. Feeling unappreciated, he transforms into the Riddler and starts a dangerous game of riddles with Batman, aiming to prove that he’s the true hero of Gotham.

Miller says that Revolution stays true to the world of Tim Burton’s Batman, with a touch of the dark humor from the films. Fans of Batman ’89 comics will also find connections with the ongoing DC series. Batman: Revolution will be available on October 28, 2025.

You can pre-order the hardcover now for $30, with discounts likely before the release. Kindle and Audible versions will also be offered. Miller promises that readers will get an action-packed story with a blend of old and new characters.

The author also shares that the book’s setting during the Fourth of July will give readers a fresh perspective on Gotham City, while Batman faces challenges from unexpected foes.
