A couple of months ago Dave Filoni himself confirmed his plans for ‘Ahsoka’ season 2. Filoni, who wrote ‘Ahsoka,’ discussed the show’s future and the challenges posed by the passing of Ray Stevenson, who was intended to be a significant part of the story.
As a reminder, Stevenson’s Baylan Skoll never revealed his true plans in the final episode of the first season; instead, he can be seen gazing upon the statues of Mortis Gods on Peridea, an act seemingly foreshadowing what his plans might be. Filoni described Baylan Skoll as a man with dangerous ambition.
Stevenson passed away on May 21, 2023, just four days prior to his 59th birthday. The cause of his death remains undisclosed, but it’s noted that he was hospitalized during the filming of ‘Cassino in Ischia’ on the Italian island of Ischia. So, what happens now to the character that was supposed to be a giant part of the franchise moving forward?
If Daniel Richtman is to be believed, an industry insider and leaker with a solid track record, Skoll will be recast and will indeed appear in ‘Ahsoka’ season 2. Lucasfilm is allegedly looking for white males aged 50-60 years for the role. The show will also introduce a new male villain, and Richtman added that Mother/Abeloth will appear in the second season.
These are not the first rumors that some characters are returning to the second season of the show, apparently, Hayden Christensen’s Anakin will also reprise his role, although the rumors were met with mixed fan reactions as Anakin seemingly fulfilled his role and finished Ahsoka’s training in the first season of the show.
