MCU has plenty of projects in the works and so, a massive wave of casting actors has been underway for quite some time now. One of the actors rumored to join is Ben Affleck, who recently retired from playing one of the most notable superhero roles you can play – Batman.
The rumor comes from Daniel Richtman, a notable industry insider with a decent track record. So far it’s unknown what role Affleck is supposed to take on. But there are a few we can eliminate.
Your first thought probably is that Affleck is returning as a Daredevil variant, possibly in the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ alongside Garner’s Elektra, after all ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is currently undergoing reshoots to add more cameos to the movie. That assumption is however false since Richtman made it clear (in a Patreon comment) that Affleck will not return as Daredevil.
I’m having a hard time believing that Affleck is coming to the MCU in the first place, despite this rumor being active for at least a year now, primarily because he said he was done with superhero movies in the past.
Following the rocky and disastrous production of ‘Justice League’ Affleck gave up on the role and refused to star and direct another Batman movie.
James Gunn once published that he is in talks with Affleck to direct a project they just have to find the right project. Affleck however denied this and cleared up that he is absolutely not interested in working on DCU projects under the current leadership.
But after all, DCU is DCU and MCU is MCU, so he could have likely changed his mind since quite the time has passed since the debacle of ‘Justice League.’
