One of the most notable animated superhero projects in recent years is definitely the ‘Spider-Verse’ franchise. The first movie ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ was a massive success, with the second movie’ Across the Spider-Verse’ breaking all kinds of records.

The film, the first from Sony Pictures Animation to hit theaters globally since ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ in 2019, received positive reviews and set various box office records. It outperformed its predecessor, grossing a whopping $690.5 million worldwide and becoming the third-highest-grossing film in the U.S. for 2023.

It would be an understatement to say that both movies in the series have been extremely popular with the fans, all kinds of fans. More than half a year ago we got confirmation that work on ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ has restarted as soon as the SAG-AFTRA strike has resolved, and now the composer for the Threequel Daniel Pemberton has revealed that they are working like crazy on the upcoming installment, but to the massive success of the movie they have quite the challenge in front of them, not to ruin the franchise with the last bad installment.

Pemberton has compared ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ to ‘The Godfather Part III,’ a movie that was considered the weakest in the otherwise flawless series due to its convoluted plot.

They are beavering away on it as we speak and I think the main thing for everyone is we are so proud of what we have done on these movies and you want a classic trilogy, you don’t want to let it down, you don’t want to Godfather it. We are feeling added pressure – in capital letters, underlined, with a big exclamation mark at the end.

The movie was originally supposed to be released in 2024, but it was delayed indefinitely due to the strikes.

‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ is expected to continue the story from ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ with much of the previous film’s cast returning. The film will feature Shamiek Moore as Miles Morales, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. Other returning characters include Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara, Daniel Kaluuya’s Spider-Punk, John Mulaney’s Spider-Ham, Karan Soni’s Spider-Man India, Jason Schwartzman as The Spot, Andy Samberg as Ben Reilly, Issa Rae as Spider-Woman, Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Velez as Rio Morales, Greta Lee as Lyla, and Jharrel Jerome as Miles G. Morales.
