‘Big Hero 6’ was the first Marvel Comics animated theatrical release. It was a highly successful release thanks to an engaging mix of action, humor, and heart. Audiences loved the lovable character Baymax, who brought warmth and compassion to the film. The animation, fast pace, and emotional depth made it enjoyable for both kids and adults, earning it strong reviews and a high approval rating.

The movie was released more than 10 years ago and although a sequel was discussed a lot of times the movie is still a single release. After all, why shouldn’t the movie get a sequel, it was a great origin story.

Co-director Chris Williams said that a great movie starts with a great story. He believes the crew and the audience, who love Disney animation, both deserve a good story and that was one of the necessary things for the sequel – an equally good story as the first installment.

Now years later, the movie’s co-producer Roy Conli addressed the potential sequel once again. Talking to Screen Rant Conli shared that there are no current plans for a ‘Big Hero 6’ sequel.

He mentioned that any potential sequel would depend on co-director Don Hall, as he was responsible for the original idea. Conli often encourages Hall to return but understands that Hall prefers working on new projects, so it remains uncertain.

You know, we’re celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Big Hero 6 this year. A great movie for myself, Don Hall, and Chris Williams, who put that together. It’s interesting because it is really up to Don whether he wants to make a sequel to that. It was Don’s concept and idea. I always secretly urge him to do it, but we’ll see. He loves working on new property. So we’ll see what happens.

‘Big Hero 6’ earned a total of $657.8 million worldwide, with $222.5 million from North America and $435.3 million from other regions. After expenses, the film made a profit of $187.34 million. It became the highest-grossing animated film of 2014 and one of the highest-grossing animated films ever.

As you can see, the potential is there. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
