Fans Demand New T’Challa and Removal of ‘Black Panther 2’ from MCU Timeline Following Thaddeus Ross Recasting

We all recognize Black Panther as one of the most beloved MCU characters, and both films featuring the Wakandan superhero were immensely successful. However, the sequel did not include the original Black Panther, T’Challa, portrayed by the late Chadwick Boseman in the first movie.

Following Boseman’s passing, Marvel chose not to recast the role, and Black Panther 2 paid tribute to the actor by poignantly portraying the real-life loss on-screen. The decision was made to honor Boseman’s legacy, considering the significance of the Black Panther character and their desire not to replace him.

Marvel has a history of recasting roles, as seen recently with Thaddeus Ross being recast after William Hurt’s passing. Harrison Ford will portray the character in ‘Captain America: Brave New World.‘ This has prompted fans to call for a new Black Panther in the MCU.

Thaddeus Ross first appeared in Ed Norton’s Hulk movie, portrayed by William Hurt. Hurt continued to play the role in subsequent films, albeit in smaller capacities, until his passing in 2022 due to cancer. While Ross was not a central character like Black Panther in the MCU, producers decided to expand his role in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ where Sam Wilson takes on the mantle of Captain America.

In light of this decision, the role was recast, with acting legend Harrison Ford taking over. Ford will also portray the Red Hulk in the film. But how does all this relate to T’Challa?

As mentioned earlier, Black Panther stands out as one of the few major MCU characters who was not recast but instead written out of the storyline to honor Chadwick Boseman’s legacy. This decision was addressed in ‘Black Panther 2.’ However, seeing the successful recasting in Captain America: Brave New World, fans have taken to Twitter to advocate for a new Black Panther as well.

Fans are expressing a clear and reasonable perspective: given the MCU’s successful track record with recasting, there’s no reason why T’Challa should be absent. They are also calling for Black Panther 2 to be removed from the official timeline and replaced with a new sequel that reintroduces T’Challa.

What are your thoughts? Would you prefer to see someone replace Boseman, or do you think a female Black Panther would be the better direction to take? Share your opinion in the comments below!
