Bong Joon-ho Applauds Robert Pattinson’s ‘Refreshing’ Take on Batman in ‘The Batman’
Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman received mostly positive reviews. Critics praised his darker, more introspective take on the character, making him feel more human and vulnerable. Many felt he brought a fresh and unique perspective to the role, setting his Batman apart from previous portrayals.
Now Bong Joon-ho, a South Korean film director and writer, has joined the crowd to praise Pattinson’s Batman, as the two are currently working on ‘Mickey 17’
‘Parasite’ director said Pattinson did something special with the character. He took an iconic and well-known role and made it feel new and unique. Bong is impressed by how Pattinson added his own style and perspective, giving the character a fresh twist.
“I saw him take on such an iconic character and make it completely his own with a refreshing take.”
Bong Joon-ho also added that while people have known Robert Pattinson since his role in ‘Harry Potter,’ he personally started seeing Pattinson’s true acting talent in films like ‘Good Time ‘and ‘The Lighthouse. ‘
He believes those performances showed Pattinson’s growth as an actor, taking him to a new level
We’ve all known him since “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” but I started seeing him under another light as an actor through “Good Time” with the Safdie brothers and his riveting performance in “The Lighthouse” with Willem Dafoe. He became an actor on another level with those two works.
In January 2022, it was announced that Bong Joon-ho’s next film would be ‘Mickey 17,’ based on the novel ‘Mickey7’ by Edward Ashton. Bong received an early version of the book in late 2021.
The film, which he is writing, co-producing, and directing, will star Robert Pattinson and be released by Warner Bros. Pictures. Other cast members like Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, and Steven Yeun joined in 2022, and production began on August 1, 2022.
‘Mickey 17’ is set to premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2025. It will then be released in theaters in South Korea on February 28, 2025, and in the United States on March 7, 2025.
