Even though Feige recently announced that the MCU will produce fewer shows, there are still many upcoming series that started development before the strikes.

One of these shows is a live-action adaptation of ‘Wonder Man,’ based on the comic book character.

The show will follow Simon Williams, an actor and stuntperson who gains superpowers and becomes a superhero called Wonder Man. It will be a satire and a love letter to Hollywood.

The show was created by Destin Cretton and Andrew Guest, who is the showrunner. It will be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, meaning you don’t need to watch previous MCU shows to understand it, and it will be aimed at a more mature audience.

The show has been in development for several years, and the main cast has been announced. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will play Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, while Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery, and Demetrius Grosse portrays Eric Williams, Simon’s brother, and a villain. Ed Harris will play Simon’s agent, Neal Saroyan, with Lauren Glazier and Josh Gad in undisclosed roles.

Even though Marvel Studios recently released the first short teaser for the show, at this point not much is known about the show. Luckily, Marvel’s Head of Streaming and Television recently commented on the upcoming release on the Phase Hero podcast.

You know it’s a two-hander between two amazing characters. There’s this odd couple of Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery and you get a little bit of glimpse of that in the trailer. I don’t wanna go too much into story details, it’s very fun to see people speculating about what the plot will be.

That is part of the fun of it. If you’re a fan of West Coast Avengers and know a little bit about Simon Williams you’re going to be… I mean, I hope if you’re anything like me, you’re going to be very excited to see how much homage to the source material there is.

It really is a love letter to Hollywood in a lot of ways.

Some recent reports claimed that ‘Wonder Man,’ ‘Armor Wars’ and ‘Vision’ will be connected through West Coast Avengers, and we’re glad to see it finally being confirmed, at least partially, meaning we might see more of the team in the future.
