You Won’t Believe How Much Logan’s Brown And Tan Suit From ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cost To Make

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ finally introduced both Deadpool and Wolverine to the MCU. It’s been a tremendously successful movie, and much of that success can be attributed to fan service.

The movie featured a large number of Marvel’s legacy characters and variants. In the movie, fans could see numerous variants of both Deadpool and Wolverine. Some of the most notable Wolverine variants were Old Man Logan, AoA Wolverine, Short King Wolverine, Patch, The Cavillerine, and ultimately, classic John Byrne Wolverine which is featured in a short fight scene against Hulk.

It’s exactly that scene that features Wolverine wearing an iconic brown and tan suit that accumulated eye-watering cost and the suit overall was extremely expensive to make.

Dean Zimmerman and Shane Reid recently sat down with ComicBook and explained why more variants did not make it to the final cut of the movie despite being planned. They also explained that a brown and tan Wolverine suit cost $100,000 to make.

Dean: One of our storyboard artists was a huge comic book fan and he gave us a list of, like, ten of them. There was also, and maybe no on really likes to hear this, time and budget issues you have to deal with as well. Here’s a perfect example: the brown and tan, we spent around $100,000 building that suit.

They’re expensive. To build this kind of stuff…we have to get a little economical with what we could actually come up with and do. So, yeah, ‘Hugh, can you take your shirt off be bolted to a cross?’ ‘Yeah, I can do that, no problem.’ ‘Great, let’s get a bunch of pink skulls, throw ‘em down there, and light it in the way of the comic book.’ ‘Can you be an old man?’ ‘Sure!’ They were all thought out but also done with budget in mind and also time.

We didn’t have much time. Once we resumed shooting, our deadline on this movie was so tight. When we went back to photography in London, we did have a finite amount of time and even coming up with all those ideas, once we got back, we were like, ‘Hey everyone, we’re going to do this’ and everyone’s heads are exploding. How are we going to do this in the time we have left?

This amount of money for a costume seems insane, but Zimmerman eventually elaborated on why it cost so much to make. Apparently, it’s been hand-crafted to fit Hugh Jackman:

Dean: Like I said, it’s one of those things that’ll stand the test of time. Just the costumers…it’s all handmade. It’s all done to an inch of Hugh’s body. To shoot it all as well.

Ultimately, it all worked out in the end. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has grossed $635.3 million in the U.S. and Canada and $699.4 million internationally, bringing its total worldwide earnings to $1.335 billion. It’s $1.335 billion against a $200 million budget, I’d call that a win!
