Byron Bowers Joins the Cast of MCU’s ‘Wonder Man’: Here Are 3 Characters He Could Play

‘Wonder Man’ is just one more in line of upcoming MCU live-action shows. The show is based on the comic book character of the same name. It was in development hell for quite some time, and it was rumored to be canceled several times over the last couple of years. Recently we got the confirmation that the show is still happening and that it has one notable addition to the cast.

According to Deadline, Byron Bowers, known for his roles in ‘The Chi’ and ‘Lady in the Lake’ has recently joined the show, although his role has been undisclosed.

That however doesn’t stop us from speculating which character he might play. Much of the main cast has been released so far, and considering that Wonder Man is a relatively unknown character, there’s a limited pool of characters that Byron could embody on screen.

He could be playing Sanford Williams, Wonder Man’s father and a fierce competitor of Stark Industries. It was the death of Sanford Williams that kickstarted Simon’s downfall and started his superhero journey.

He could be playing Erik Josten aka The Goliath, a known enemy of Wonder Man. Wonder Man has plenty of smaller and bigger enemies that so far haven’t been adapted to the MCU but what makes The Goliath special is his connection to Pym Particles and eventually his connection to the Thunderbolts, who are set to get their own MCU movie as well.

There’s always the possibility however that Byron is playing an original character created for the MCU and that his story won’t be adapted from the comics. In fact it’s likely that Byron is playing either Simon’s father or the original character based on how much his origin story will be changed when compared to the comics.

As I’ve mentioned before core cast of the show has been revealed and Byron will join Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the titular role, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery – A failed actor who previously pretended to be the Mandarin who was later abducted by the Ten Rings and ended up serving as Xu Wenwu’s “court jester.”

Demetrius Grosse – Eric Williams aka Grim Reaper, Simon’s brother and a villain, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan – Simon’s agent, and Lauren Glazier and Josh Gad in undisclosed roles.

‘Wonder Man’ will focus on Simon Williams an actor and stuntperson who gains superpowers and becomes a superhero known as Wonder Woman. The show was described as being “Hollywood satire.”

Recently it’s been announced that the show will consist of 10 episodes. The show is expected to release on Disney+ and will be a part of the MCU, however since the release date is currently unknown it’s hard to tell which phase it will be a part of.
